On June 4th,  Helen and I were very happy to volunteer our time and services to the Cape Cod organization  WECAN, a wonderful group of women who assist other women in transition through programs, workshops and support.   Actress/writer/comedienne Anne Meara received the WECAN Woman of the Year award with husband Jerry Stiller providing a hillarous routine before introducing her to the sold out audience at the West Dennis Yacht Club.  Award winning novelist  Jane Hamilton  (Book of Ruth, A Map of the World) was the keynote speaker, with author Nancy Nichols (Lake Effect: Two Sisters and a Town's Toxic Legacy) and  Cape poet Nancy K. Pearson, winner of the 2009 New England PEN Award were also on hand to speak to the appreciative crowd.
